Who are we?
We are a group of students from the National Reality and Globalization. There are more than 7000
native communities here in Peru with all kinds of languages, cultures, arts, gastronomy, and history.
For our luck, we have one with the particularity of sharing culture with another country: a village
isolated from the capital. With this concept, we are responsible for talking about our valuable and
interesting local groups.
What to expect?
Because we want everyone to understand the blog, we will put general information, such as location, population, first language, and facts about culture and traditions. In addition, some of the sub-themes we will discuss are the historical background of the Austro-German colony, daily chores and activities, problems surrounding them, local tourism and gastronomy, and more. Moreover, we will create various posts in a didactic way: publish videos, images, posters, and infographics for a better understanding. To make the blog interesting for those who prefer listening over reading or just love podcasts, we will make one almost at the end of the semester. There is also a comment section where everyone can interact with us and give us their opinions about the topic and feedback, enriching the blog. So, are you ready to start this journey?
Why Colorful Spectrums?
Oxapampa: a region in Peru where you can see European routes. The fascinating Austro-German colony is an underrated community in Peru located in Pasco, Oxapampa, the high jungle of Peru. Although it is not so far from Peru’s capital, Lima, there isn’t a lot of knowledge regarding the roots, cultural significance, traditions, and so on from this place.
Why is it important?
Peru is a pluricultural and multi-diverse country. It is not a surprise! As Peruvians, we are proud to be known as it. However, the problem lies when a big part of the population knows little about many cultures they admire.
Nowadays, Peru is the home of people from many different worldwide descendants, with a mix of European, Asian, African, and indigenous elements that continue to contribute to our culture. European influence stayed in a town with many traditions, from the infrastructure to its people. Oxapampa is a touristic treasure left with a lot of knowledge to absorb. Thus, we must enrich what we are portraying with Oxapampa around the corner. And if you recently heard about Peru and this town, the chance is yours.
We invite you to this journey of discovering new information through this blog. Welcome to The colorful Spectrum of Oxapampa!
